1. Research the impact of Hurricane Katrina on gasoline prices. Why did it cause an increase in gas prices? What are some problems that this increase may cause? What are some things that are being done to control costs?
Type your answers here…. Hurricane Katrina caused gasoline prices to go up because a lot of the country got gas imported to New Orleans so they could transport it to the rest of the cities. When the hurricane hit, it flooded and caused a complete back up, everything was ruined and gas pumps were destroyed. Some people may stop buying gas, the gas supply will decrease, and gas may have to be rationed to us. President Bush opened up one of the oil plants he was saving so that the oil we have in America can be made into fuel for us to use. We have also received gas and money from other countries.

2. Research current gasoline prices across the country. Write a summary on why some states or areas have higher gasoline prices than others. Think about the area's location and population, does that affect their gasoline prices? Include current prices in your explanation.

Type your answers here….. Some states have higher gasoline prices because some gas stations have gasoline that has other chemicals to make the gas work better and last longer in certain vehicles. Also the demand for gasoline is way higher now than fifty years ago. A lot of people are driving SUV’s that need lots of fuel so, when gas is in high demand a lot of the people that work in the gas industry want to make a good living off of making people pay 6.80 for gasoline. Also population has a lot to do with gasoline prices. In Japan gas is 6.80 a gallon because they have a huge population and the world lowered there inventory of crude oil, which means for a really high price the buyer gets less gasoline, which also causes the prices to go up to 3.05 a gallon.

3. Describe the changes in gasoline prices in the last fifty years.
Type your answers here….. Gasoline has been like a yoyo for the past fifty years. In 1995 gas prices were at there lowest ever. The price of gasoline was 1.28 a gallon! By 2001 gas went up to 1.66 a gallon, a 42cent difference. In 2002 gas prices decreased 35cents only to keep rising from 2003 to 2005.

4. Compare gas prices around the world. Do certain regions have lower prices than others? Which countries have the highest prices and which have the lowest? How does the current prices in the United States compare to the rest of the world?
Type your answers here….. Gas prices in Mississippi are about 2.40 a gallon. Religion does not have any affect what so ever on gas prices. China’s gas prices are 6.80 a gallon the highest that gas has ever been. Compared to the rest of the world the United States has gas prices that are kind of in between, not to low not to high.
